Swindon Dental Firm Making Giant Strides

Sample News Big

A Swindon firm, which manufactures products for the dental industry, is making giant strides, with productivity up 300 per cent and exports increasing year on year.

Associated Dental Products, which is based in Purton, has grown rapidly and now exports dental products to 40 different countries.

The firm has recently invested in bespoke equipment, which cuts the modelling wax a lot quicker and more accurately than other machinery; this means that more products can be made in a shorter time with a much smaller margin for error. The machine uses a water cooling process to boost heat conductivity; it has also helped to reduce energy usage by 30 per cent.

Graham Mayoh, managing director of the firm, said that the process of manufacturing the sheets of wax was expensive and time-consuming and they wanted to find a solution, which would not only cut the processing time but also save energy and reduce costs. The firm sought help from the Manufacturing Advisory Service, which recommended a workshop, which presented tools and equipment to modify the process of casting wax.

Andrew Phillips, adviser for the Manufacturer Advisory Service in Wiltshire, said that Associated Dental Products had a clear vision and with the help of MAS, the firm has moved forward and it is pleasing to see that productivity has increased and the firm is dealing with new international markets.
