A team of dental staff from Olivers Dental Studio in Sunderland have visited local schoolchildren to talk to them about oral hygiene and oral health.

Dental nurse Catherine White was joined by Olly the Lion, the practice mascot, for a trip to St Anne’s school.

The aim of the visit was to talk to children about their teeth and gums and encourage them to brush their teeth regularly. Children were excited to see Olly the Lion and the team initiated fun activities for the children to learn about oral hygiene. Catherine White also brought along a giant model of the mouth, which enabled the children to see the structures of the mouth more clearly.

Olly the Lion and Catherine took time to talk to children about healthy eating habits, going to the dentist and the importance of looking after their teeth. The aim was to get kids involved in oral health.

A spokeswoman from the school said that the visit was a great success and the children had a wonderful time playing games and meeting Olly the Lion.
