Council planning officers have given plans to expand a dental centre in Sunderland the green light.

The planning department at Sunderland City Council has approved plans submitted by the owner of Grangetown Family Dental Health Centre in Windsor Terrace.

The application proposed adding a first floor extension and modifying the interior to create new facilities. The statement accompanying the application outlined plans to develop the practice to add an extra treatment room and create a larger, more modern room for dental hygiene services.

A report prepared by the planning department stated that the development is similar to other properties in the area and confirmed that materials will be used to match the existing property. Planning officers agreed that the expansion would have no “detrimental impact on the amenity of neighbouring residents.”
The practice has seven employees and three dentists. The centre opens five days a week.

Following approval from the planning department, work on the practice extension must be completed within the next three years.
