A dental practice in Suffolk has reassured patients after rumours on social media insinuated that the surgery was stopping NHS services.

Representatives from mydentist in Woodbridge spoke out after posts on social platforms suggested the practice, which is located in Old Maltings Approach, was switching to private dentistry.

A spokesperson for mydentist said, “We would like to reassure patients that we have no plans to stop providing NHS dentistry at our practice in Woodbridge. We do have an issue with NHS capacity for new appointments currently, however, this is only temporary as we have two new clinicians joining the team shortly.”

A patient at the practice had posted on Facebook after calling to make an appointment for her daughter. She was told that she wouldn’t be able to get one at the moment unless she paid £13 for a private appointment, as there are currently no NHS dentists available. In the post, which was shared to Woodbridge Community Facebook page, she questioned where patients were supposed to go if they couldn’t afford private dentistry. Since the post was shared, many people who are registered with the practice have commented, voicing their concerns about the news.

Reassurance from mydentist will be welcomed by patients in Woodbridge, as the NHS access crisis deepens in Suffolk. There are very few NHS places available and reports suggest that more and more people are either travelling long distances to see a dentist, paying for private treatment or resorting to DIY dentistry.
