Stroud Dentist Urges Parents To Take Their Children For Check-Ups At An Early Age

A dentist from Stroud has urged parents to start taking their children for regular dental check-ups, from an early age.

Dr Ewa Rozwadowska, from Confident Dental Care, which is located on London Road, is worried that parents are putting their children’s health at risk by failing to take them to the dentist early enough. Dentists recommend 6 monthly checks from the age of 6-12 months old.

Regular dental visits help to reduce the risk of decay and they also allow children to get used to the dental surgery and going to the dentist.

Dr Rozwadowska was speaking in light of the publication of survey results, which showed that almost 80 per cent of parents in Gloucestershire do not take their children to the dentist early enough. The survey also revealed that 6 per cent of parents wait until their child has started school to take them to the dentist for the first time.

The results of the survey were alarming and the fact that children are not attending regular dental appointments is clearly a contributing factor to high rates of tooth decay. Dr Rozwadowska urged parents to start thinking about arranging regular dental checks as soon as their child’s first tooth pushes through.
