Two dental nurses from Stroud are preparing to tackle a 10km run to raise money for a charity, which supports the parents of stillborn babies.

Kerry Robertson and Gabriela Vilela are taking on the London 10km run on Sunday 13th July to raise funds for Sands. Sands was established in 1978 and has helped hundreds of couples and their relatives to get through difficult times after losing children. Kerry’s sister lost her daughter, Poppy, at 37 weeks, and the charity has been a huge source of support for the family.

Kerry has been training with local running clubs and now really enjoys going out for a jog; she said she was never much of a runner before she started training for the race, but now she really enjoys it and she has come across some lovely routes. Kerry said that she feels like running is a gift from Poppy and the training has given her something to focus on and a goal to aim for.

When Kerry heard about the London 10km run, she decided to give it a go as a means of raising awareness of the work of Sands and raising money for the projects they offer. Kerry said the run will also be a way for everyone around her to remember Poppy.

Kerry and her running partner, fellow dental nurse, Gabriela, are now ready and raring to go and their colleagues, friends and relatives are all wishing them the best.
