A St. Albans dentist who was recently accused of trying to seduce one of his patients has been struck off after a hearing with the General Dental Council.

Milan Shah, of the Alexander House Dental practice, was reported by a mother of five who claimed that he tried to seduce her over a number of years after her husband had become brain damaged after a serious asthma attack. The woman, known only as “Patient A” had made charges of harassment that ran between April 2007 and April 2009. This weeks hearing resulted in Mr. Shah being struck off in order to ‘protect the public.’

Head of the panel, Mary Harley, was quoted as stating during the hearing; ‘Your conduct was a serious breach of a trust that Patient A had placed in you as a dental professional. That she was a patient in an especially vulnerable situation is an aggravating feature of your conduct. The committee is in no doubt that, taken as a whole, you conduct fell far short of the standards expected of a dental professional and amounted to misconduct.’ She continued, ‘When faced with the allegations in the course of this hearing you have alleged Patient A has fabricated her account and in putting this case you have not told the truth to this committee. You have shown no remorse or insight.’

The committee decided that a permanent striking off for Mr. Shah was the only option to ensure and maintain confidence in the profession and to protect the public.

This is a load of rubbish. I have known Milan Shah for many years and he is a totally family man. This is injustice to the extreme. Why did the patient still keep seeing him, she had lots of other practices she could have visited. I am disgusted by what she has done to him.
