St Albans dentist accused of seducing married patient

A dentist from St Albans is facing a General Dental Council hearing after a female patient accused him of trying to seduce her.

A female patient claims Milan Shah, from Alexander House Practice, made a series of phone calls to her, pestering her to be with him and encouraging her to leave her husband. Mr Shah allegedly told the woman that he could love her more than her husband, who had recently suffered brain damage following a severe asthma attack.

Mr Shah allegedly told his married patient that his own marriage was breaking down and repeatedly told the woman that they should be together. He has also been accused of trying to charge the patient £350 for a treatment, which was available free of charge on the NHS. After she questioned the cost, he offered to give her a discounted rate.

Mr Shah, who lives in North London, denies any improper conduct. The General Dental Council hearing continues and the panel will decide whether Mr Shah will be able to practise in the future.
