A dental practice in the village of South Holland, near Spalding, is set to close after dentist, Dr Philip Baldock announced his retirement.

Pinchbeck Dental Surgery, which is located on Market Way, will shut on the 31st March. Dr Baldock has not yet commented on the situation, but a practice representative confirmed that patients will be contacted in the coming days.

News of the closure will be met with unease, as patients in the area are already struggling to find available dental places, but there have been some positive developments in finding new service providers in Spalding. A new practice, which will be known as Winsover Dental Care, is on track to open on Winsover Road on the 1st March. The new surgery is opening in the premises formerly occupied by the Voice office.

Spalding has experienced a shortage of dentists for some time, but the opening of the new surgery will hopefully ease pressure slightly. Anyone who is interested in joining the list at the new clinic can now visit the website (www.winsoverdentalcare.co.uk) to pre-register.

NHS England had previously hoped to open two new dental practices in Spalding, but there have been delays due to recruitment problems. News of the planned closure of Pinchbeck Dental Surgery could contribute to more difficulties for patients looking to book a dental appointment, but efforts to secure more places are ongoing.

A government survey carried out in 2019 revealed that South Lincolnshire was the second-worst place to be a dental patient looking for an NHS place in the country.
