Sample News Big

Wintry conditions have caused chaos for health services on the Isle of Man, with many services cancelled and others severely delayed.

Snowfall has affected many services and the dental clinic at QEII School has been cancelled; the dental clinic run by Mr Dohova at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital, has also been cancelled.

Other services affected by the weather include Dr Hoehman’s ear, nose and throat clinic, the oncology clinic and the ophthalmic clinic at Noble’s Hospital, which have all been cancelled and patients scheduled to attend appointments at the orthopaedic clinic are also being contacted to rearrange appointments. The Blood Clinic will be open today but the Department of Health has warned patients that they may face lengthy delays.

Snow has been falling for several days now and forecasters have predicted further snowfall over the course of the next few days; as a result of treacherous driving conditions, members of the public have been advised to stay at home and to travel only if the journey is absolutely essential.

The patients affected by the closures will be contacted in the near future to reschedule their appointments and staff have pledged to try and clear the backlog as quickly as possible.
