A dental practice in Snettisham will continue to provide NHS care after the current owner retires.

Ian Smith, 78, is handing over the reins of Grange Dental Surgery to Mandeep Bhogal after running the practice for over 50 years.

Mr Smith has been practising since 1977 and he has owned Grange Dental Surgery for 54 years. At the age of 78, he is now taking retirement on the advice of his surgeon, as he has arthritis in his hands. He has enjoyed an incredibly long and successful career and has been a hugely popular member of the local community.

Ian is originally from Edinburgh but after more than fifty years, he feels like a Snettisham local. He will retire alongside his wife, Julie, who has worked at the practice as a dental nurse for 40 years.

Ian has always run the practice as an NHS surgery and the practice will continue to provide NHS dental services under the expert guidance and ownership of Mandeep. Ian described his successor as “an extremely nice young man” and an “exceptionally confident dentist.”

Ian and Julie are now looking forward to taking a step back and enjoying a well-earned break, safe in the knowledge that the practice is in good hands. The couple thanked colleagues and patients for their support and well-wishes and vowed to keep in touch.

Mandeep has ambitious plans to expand as he prepares to build on Ian’s success and put his stamp on the practice.
