Retail magnate Sir Stuart Rose has added another position to his impressive CV after becoming chair of Oasis Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest private dental groups.

Rose, who is best know for his charge at Marks and Spencer, also has Ocado, the hugely successful supermarket home delivery service, in his portfolio. Since he stepped down from Marks and Spencer at the beginning of 2011, Rose has been investing his time in building business at Ocado and share prices have risen significantly, with the price quadrupling from £1 per share to £4.

Now, Rose has joined Oasis Healthcare as chairman, a position he also holds at Blue Inc, the fashion retailer and Fat Face.

Oasis was recently bought out by private equity group, Bridgepoint, in a deal worth £185 million; Rose is a member of the firm’s advisory panel and has subsequently been appointed the chair of the dental chain.

Justin Ash, chief executive of Oasis Healthcare, said that the addition of Sir Rose will prove invaluable to the company’s ambitions to expand and grow in the future; he added that there are plans to make Oasis the “go-to brand in dentistry” and he is looking forward to working with Sir Stuart Rose.

Oasis was founded in 1996 and owns 200 dental practices across the UK with a workforce of around 2000 people. The firm had an annual turnover of around £150 million last year.
