Silver fillings not a toxic as feared

Sample News Big

Boffins have claimed that silver-coloured dental fillings are not toxic as many people believe.

After studying the surface of the mercury based fillings scientists have suggested that the surface forms of mercury might be less harmful than formerly thought.

Researchers also noted that mercury-based amalgams had been used for more than a century and that mercury can exist in a number of forms, each with a different chemical toxicity.

This is the first report which suggests that forms of mercury in fillings can evolve over time.

Via a new x-ray techniques, researchers discovered that fresh fillings which, contained metallic mercury, is sometimes toxic but discovered that 20-year-old fillings, which contained metacinnabar or beta-mercuric sulfide, are less likely to be harmful.

The research team noted that fillings lost up to 95 per cent of their mercury through time via evaporation or exposure to some dental hygiene products and foods.

However, the scientists did admit that exposure to mercury from fillings can still be harmful.

This article explains why cosmetic dentists are poisoning people every day while removing mercury fillings. If dentists do not seriously take into account the mercury vapor to which the dentist, dental assistant and the patient is exposed to while he is drilling out an old filling, then the dentists gambles with the patient’s health, especially if the patient has a compromised immune system.

Cosmetic dentists may remove mercury fillings to make teeth “prettier,” but the number one issue should be the patient’s safety. Since the dentist does not know the state of the person’s immune system, and do not test for their health challenges or their genetic makeup, they should follow the principle of “first do no harm” and use special procotols and equipment as recommended by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology when the dentist removes the filling.

The IAOMT teaches these protocols in their bi annual meetings. The upcoming meeting is March 2010. Check http://www.iaomt.org for information. These courses qualify for Continuing Education credits.

Quit downplaying the toxicity of a neurotoxin, no matter what form it is in, and do the right thing. Encourage dentists to protect their patients.

I was poisoned by my dentist when he took NO safety precautions while partially removing a mercury filling, then topping it with a metal based crown causing toxic electro galvanic currents. People can obtain an information packet from DAMS, Dental Amalgam Mercury Solutions, a non profit patient’s support group, at http://www.amalgam.org. DAMS will educate you on how fillings should safely be removed and send you a list of biological dentists who use safety precautions.

I don’t understand why people are trying to change “things” that cannot be changed. A leg on the human body is still a leg, so is an arm or hand. It CANNOT be changed. Mercury is still a neuro-toxin and CANNOT be changed.
THERE ARE NO SAFE LEVELS OF MERCURY ACCORDING TO SCIENTISTS, DDS,DOCTORS, ETC.
