Shetland dental practice to close for a month

Sample News Big

A dental practice in Shetland will close for a month before opening as an NHS dental surgery, it has been confirmed.

Alan Owen’s practice will close for a month after he retires on Friday; it will reopen on October 3rd as an NHS surgery. Essential maintenance work will be carried out during the four week period that the practice is closed.

Patients who require emergency dental treatment will be able to visit the NHS Shetland emergency dental service and daytime hours will also be expanded to allow for extra patients.

Patients who have appointments scheduled will be contacted to rearrange the appointment for when the practice reopens in October. Members of staff currently working for Mr Owen have been offered jobs by the NHS.

Mr Owen had been trying to sell the practice but he failed to find a buyer and eventually NHS Shetland agreed to take the practice over.
