A brand new, multi-million dollar paediatric dental centre will open in the coming weeks in Magnuson Park, Seattle.

The Center for Pediatric Dentistry will open its doors to patients on the 1st September. The new facility, which covers 28,000 square feet and cost around 21 million dollars, will provide care for thousands of children each year.

Joel Berg, the director of the centre, says that he is committed to the long-term health of children in the Seattle area. He plans to change the way children are cared for by dentists by focusing on preventative treatments, which will reduce the likelihood of them needing complex treatment further down the line.

Berg plans to involve children in a long-term programme, which will educate them about the importance of good oral health and provide them with treatments, such as sealants and fluoride varnish, which will help to strengthen and protect their teeth and gums. The centre will educate children about looking after their teeth and gums and talk to children about healthy eating, oral hygiene and the importance of visiting their dentist on a regular basis.

The centre is being run as part of a joint partnership between Seattle Children’s Hospital, University of Washington School of Dentistry, Washington Dental Service and Washington Dental Service Foundation.

Children with both private and public insurance policies will be welcomed by the centre; increasingly, parents are finding it difficult to find a dentist that accepts Medicaid and the new centre will help to ease this problem. The centre will also employ dentists and dental professionals who have experience of dealing with young children and children with health problems.

The centre will open on weekdays from September the 1st.
