Scottish Dental Care acquires Glasgow practices

Scottish Dental Care has acquired two Glasgow dental practices as part of an ambitious expansion plan.

The group, which is family-run and based in Glasgow, has added Gorbals Dental Practice and Barrhead Dental Practice to its ever-growing portfolio.
Gorbals Dental Practice opened in the 1990s and has been run by Fraser MacAulay since August 1998. In 2011, Fraser opened Barrhead Dental Practice and has managed both practices since.

After navigating the challenges of the pandemic and its aftermath, Fraser decided to explore potential buyers. He was eager to find a company that shared his values and was particularly keen to ensure that the NHS patients at the practices would be protected. After researching different groups, he identified Scottish Dental Care as a perfect fit.
The acquisition will allow more time for staff to spend with patients and eliminate many of the stresses and strains of running the business side of the practices. The takeover will also facilitate the expansion of services and modernisation of facilities and increase capacity.

Scottish Dental Care is run by brothers, Christopher and Philip Friel. The most recent acquisition takes the number of practices run by the group to nineteen. There are now more than 80 dentists and 200 members of staff working for the company, providing treatment and dental services for 200,000 patients.
