Residents told to boil water before cleaning teeth

Sevenoaks Residents have been told to boil water before brushing their teeth after it was found that the supply was contaminated.

Routine tests revealed that a contamination in the Lullingstone Water Company supply had occurred and the district council distributed letters to residents in 76 local homes warning them of the dangers.

Three businesses were also affected by the contamination which affected homes in isolated areas around Crockenhil, Eynsford and Lullingstone.

Residents have also been advised to boil water cooking with it or drinking it and so far there has been no reports of illness.

A spokesperson fro Sevenoaks Council said that residents should continue to boil the water before brushing their teeth or consuming it for the time being.

They added that the council would let them know as soon as they were sure the water was safe to drink.
