Relief for Tewkesbury dental patients, as NHS confirms new provider following mydentist closure

Sample News Big

Dental patients in Tewkesbury will be relieved to hear that the NHS has confirmed a new provider to take over the contract previously held by mydentist. Mydentist revealed that it would close its Tewkesbury practice a few weeks ago and the doors officially closed to the public on March 31st.

The NHS has now confirmed that the contract will be taken over by Oasis Dental Care. The mydentist practice, which had around 7,000 patients on the register, closed at the end of March because executives said that it wasn’t generating enough revenue from NHS customers.

Oasis Dental Care will now move into the vacant clinic, which is accessed through Bishop’s Walk shopping centre.

Last week, it emerged that Oasis was in talks with the NHS, but no further comment was available. In the meantime, patients who had previously used the Tewkesbury mydentist clinic, were faced with a trip to Cheltenham or Gloucester to see an NHS dentist.

NHS England recently released a statement saying that the contract had been awarded to Oasis Dental Care, a firm, which prioritises “providing quality oral care to patients”. Over the course of the next few weeks, the practice will be changing, and patients are encouraged to contact reception for more information. Urgent appointments will be given priority, but routine appointments will be available in the coming weeks. More information is available on the NHS Choices website.

Oasis Dental has recently become part of the Bupa family, and the chain boasts more than 400 clinics around the country.
