A dental practice in Fulwood, Preston is offering free check-ups for children to help the local community during the cost of living crisis.

Dentistry by Cure Clinics, which is located at Eastway Hub, has been providing routine checks free for children living in PR and FY postcodes. The practice also offers free treatment for children who have a parent registered with the surgery.

Principal dentist, Dr Chris Ball, explained that the dentistry crisis is getting worse in Lancashire and the team wanted to boost access to local services. Costs are rising and it’s increasingly difficult to get an NHS dental appointment. The free check-ups for children will enable more local children to see a dentist and the free child places will make family dentistry more affordable for parents who are registered with the practice.

A recent report revealed that 38.7% of 5-year-olds in the North West have symptoms of dental decay. This figure is far higher than the national average for England, which is 29.3%.

Dr Ball stated that he wants to make dentistry more accessible to people living in the area and added that the aim is to ensure that everyone can see a dentist, regardless of their financial situation or personal circumstances. Good oral health is essential for general health and well-being. The team is hoping that making routine services more accessible and affordable will eliminate barriers and promote oral hygiene.

Dentistry by Cure Clinics is open seven days a week and offers early morning and evening appointments, including emergency slots. Parents who would like to find out more about the free child dental care options are encouraged to contact the reception team.
