A dental practice in Newtown, Powys, has reopened under new ownership.

Clifton Dental Practice opened its doors to patients on February 20th. New owner and principal dentist, Dr Raja Randhawa, said that the response from residents had been incredible. More than 100 patients registered with the practice on the first day and the reception team has received many more calls and enquiries.

The practice, which is located in Clifton Terrace, closed in June 2022. The previous owner, Chris Himsworth, wanted to retire but couldn’t find a buyer at the time. In January 2023, Dr Randhawa completed the purchase of the business after hearing about the practice’s amazing reputation in the local area. Mr Himsworth had been in the profession for 43 years when he stepped down.

Dr Randhawa has ambitious plans for the practice, which offers a wide range of private dental services, including general dentistry, cosmetic services, dental implants and cutting-edge orthodontics. The team has already expanded to five members and calls have been flooding in. There is a shortage of dental places in the county and patients wanting to join the list have been asked to visit in person rather than calling, such is the demand. Private places are available for children and adults and appointments will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Dr Randhawa has received a warm welcome in the town and he is looking forward to meeting patients and building relationships. He said that working in smaller towns and villages enables dentists to spend more time with patients and form a bond compared to being in big cities.
