Police have cordoned off a dental practice in Stowmarket following a break-in.

Officers are investigating after thieves broke into Tavern Street Dental Practice on Monday November 29th. Police were called to the premises at around 7.40 am and quickly secured the area, putting a cordon around the building to enable forensic assessment.

Thieves had broken into the building by smashing the windows and there was evidence of people looking around the surgery, with items strewn across the floors and furniture moved. Officers are not sure what has been taken at the moment and they are appealing for information about the incident.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police confirmed that officers were called to the practice on the morning of Monday 29th November after a window at the back of the property was broken.

Investigations are now underway to determine what has been stolen and to gain more information about how the thieves got in and what they did while they were inside the practice.

Officers are also trying to collect evidence to help them build a picture of what happened and maximise the chances of finding out who the perpetrators are.

For the moment, the practice is closed and patients have been notified. There is currently a sign on the door alerting patients to the situation and more information will be provided as soon as staff know when the surgery will reopen.

The sign states that the team will be in touch with patients who have had appointments cancelled to reschedule at the earliest possible opportunity.
