Police officers have charged a man following the discovery of an unlicensed dental business at a garage in Brighton Park.

The man, who has been named as Francisco Rendon, a 49 year old from South California Avenue, has been accused of providing dental care without an official license; this is classified as a misdemeanour.

Police received a tip-off about the practice last week and subsequently searched a garage in the local area; during the raid, police found evidence including dentures, dental instruments, Novocaine medication and surgical gloves. Police are not sure how long Rendon has been running the operation and they have yet to track down the patients he has treated. Rendon was arrested last Thursday.

Mr Rendon admitted to using the back area of the garage as a dental surgery and said he was fully licensed in Mexico. He was charged with not having a valid business license and is set to appear in court on the 2nd June.
