Plymouth MP, Alison Seaback, has met with representatives from Wrigley and the Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry to try and identify ways of improving standards of oral health in the local area.

During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed, including the provision of oral care in the city and possible ways to improve oral hygiene and plans have now been made for a number of activities and further meetings in the future.

MP for Plymouth Moorview, Alison Seaback, said that she is eager to improve oral health in the city and address inequalities in oral care. As well as being a local MP, she is also vice chair of the All Party Dental Group and therefore dental issues are of particular interest. She said that the meetings had been successful and there was a great deal of enthusiasm for making a difference in Plymouth.

Robert Witton, from Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, said that one of the most important aspects for the school is to engage with the local community. Students are able to access training opportunities in the local area and patients benefit from dental care and the relationship between the university and the local people is of significant importance.
