Plans to open a new dental surgery in Bridgwater have been submitted to Sedgemoor District Council.

The owners of Holloway House Dental Surgery in Minehead have applied to open a brand new dental practice at 62, Wembdon Road in Bridgwater. The premises are located opposite The Quantock pub.

If the plans get the green light, the five-bedroom property, which was previously used for residential purposes, will be converted into a mixed dental practice. Holloway House provides treatment for patients across Somerset, including many who travel from Bridgwater.

The new dental surgery would enable patients from Bridgwater to access both private and NHS dental services on their doorstep.

There is currently a shortage of NHS dental places in the area and the local population is growing. A new housing development with more than 1,000 homes is currently under construction on the A39 Quantock Road.

Health bosses recently admitted that it was becoming increasingly difficult to recruit NHS dentists, with many choosing to go private. A new mixed practice will help to ease pressure on existing services and reduce waiting times for patients in and around Bridgwater.
