Plans to boost NHS dental care in North Wales have been revealed.

Representatives from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) recently provided an update on increasing capacity in the area after submitting proposals to the Welsh Government in January to secure extra funding.

The board highlighted a number of priority areas, including Conwy, Llandudno and Betws-y-Coed, which would benefit from a cash injection to improve NHS dental services.

The health board has now confirmed that the government gave the proposals the green light and indicated that a tendering process to find new contract providers will launch in April.

Janet Finch-Saunders, MS for Aberconwy, welcomed the news from the board and said that it was a relief that efforts are being made to improve access to dental care for residents.

Additional funding for NHS dental services will be used to increase capacity at existing practices or open new clinics. Mrs Finch-Saunders added that the project will benefit local people living in towns and more remote areas and stressed the importance of starting the procurement process as soon as possible.
