Plans have been unveiled for a new 4 million pound health super centre in Cumbria.

The new centre is set to be built in Cleator Moor, a town in the west of the county, if the plans are approved by Copeland Council.

The new centre would bring together both GP and dental services and existing practices in Wath Brow and Wyndham Street would also move to the new centre.

The brand new facility would enable the residents of Cleator Moor to benefit from a range of healthcare services under one roof. Dr David Rogers, a local GP, supports the plan, saying that the new health centre will benefit local residents and provide all the care they need without them having to travel out of the town.

The plans are currently being considered by Copeland Council and a decision is expected to be announced in the near future. If the project gets the green light, the centre is set to open in 2012.
