Planning officers have rejected a proposal to relocate a dental practice to larger premises near Newark.

Plans submitted by George Machin Planning and Property on behalf of the owner of Rainworth Dental Care Ltd have been turned down.

The proposal, which was put forward by Riten Patel, outlined plans to convert a property on Sherwood Road in Rainworth to allow the practice to relocate from its current location to larger premises.

The existing practice, the only NHS dental surgery in the village, is located on the first floor of a property on Sherwood Parade.

The plans suggested changing the use of a residential property on Sherwood Road and adding a single-storey extension at the rear of the building. The extension would have replaced an existing conservatory.

The aim of the project was to increase the amount of usable space and improve accessibility for disabled and elderly patients.

After discussing the application, planning officers turned down the proposal. In a statement, officers from the local council said that the applicant had “failed to demonstrate” sufficient on-site parking provision, which they feared would impact the surrounding roads and increase the likelihood of patients using restricted parking areas. Increased traffic was also cited as a reason for rejecting the plans.
