Planning proposals for a multi-million pound health and dental centre in East Kilbride, Scotland, have finally been approved.

Town planners have given the go ahead regarding proposals to build a new five-storey health centre in the area. This means that local residents will have access to a range of health and dental services under one roof.

The new facility, which will cost around £22 million, will house six GP surgeries, a dental practice, physiotherapy services, speech and language therapy, podiatry, mental health services and public health services.

The Hunter Health Centre will be constructed on the site of the Ballerup car park and the existing structure will be demolished.

Head of management services at NHS Lanarkshire, Graham Johnston, said that news of the successful planning application “marks a significant step towards the development of the new facility.” He added that the facility will provide patients with a wide range of services, including GP and dental care.

In addition to an array of health services, there will also be plenty of parking for visitors, with a four-storey car park located next to the health centre.
