A dental team from Penarth is preparing to take on a zip slide challenge to raise money for a good cause.

The team from Smile Dental Studio will take on The Wire on Sunday 9th June to raise money for the Pituitary Foundation, a charity based in Bristol. The Wire is located in Chepstow and features one of the UK’s highest zip slides. Team members, Tracey Morris, Wendy Stewart and Caroline Barry will be flying down the 70 metre zip wire in the hope of raising money for the charity.

The zip line stands over a quarry, which is 700 metres deep and flooded with water. It is essential that the team remains calm and overcome their nerves to complete the challenge. The money they raise will be used to support patients from Penarth and the Vale who are affected by pituitary gland disorders.

The team is hoping to raise around £300 for the charity, which works to help those affected by pituitary gland disorders and also raise awareness of the conditions. Wendy Stewart, practice manager at Smile Dental Studio, said that the practice treats patients who are affected by disorders of the pituitary gland and team members are aware of the devastating impact such conditions can have on day to day life. Unfortunately, awareness of pituitary gland disorders is relatively low and so the practice decided to donate to the charity due to the amazing work it does to help those whose lives have been affected.

Jay Sheppard, marketing director at the Pituitary Foundation, thanked the practice for their support and wished them success in their zip wire challenge. There are around 80,000 people in the UK affected by pituitary gland disorders and the charity helps to provide advice and support for both the patients and their families.
