Peer endorsements increase dental sales

A new survey has revealed that recommendations from peers are the biggest factor which motivates dentists to purchase new technology.

While investigating industry attitudes towards business innovation, The British Dental Trade Association (BDTA) discovered that 66% of dentists questioned said that peer endorsements were a major factor when it came to investing in new technology.

The BDTA survey also discovered that 61% of participants went by the recommendations made at lectures or seminars.

According to the study, most dentists intend to purchase intraoral digital radiography over all other technology

The number of surgeries that have internet access increased from 66% in 2008to 80% in 2009.

Forty per cent of participants said that they preferred attending courses at dental schools because they are cheaper, of high quality, unbiased and peer reviewed.

BDTA questioned more than 200 dentists towards the end of 2009.
