Otago Dental School Named in the World’s Top 10

Otago University’s school of dentistry has been named in the world’s top 10 dental schools.

The university is the only establishment in New Zealand to make the top 10 list in any subject, and has been named the 8^th best dental school in the QS World Rankings by Subject.

QS compiles its top 10 lists based on the opinions of 85,000 academics and 41,000 employers. More than 17 million research papers and 100 million citations from papers, journals and academics were used in data analysis to create the lists.

Otago University was the only university in New Zealand to make a top 10 list. However, universities in the country did perform well, with all universities ranking in the top 400 for every subject. Massey University ranked 15^th for veterinary science and the University of Auckland was listed in 23^rd place for Developmental Science.

Vice-chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne said that everyone at Otago Univerity is delighted with the ranking of 8^th place, which confirms the university’s influence on a global scale and recognises the excellence of teaching staff, students, research facilities and resources.
