Orthodontist to Pay Large Compensation Fee to Former Patient

Barry Rimmer, member of the International Association for Orthodontics and owner of Ashton Dental Practice, has been charged with dental negligence.

Rimmer has recently settled an undisclosed sum to be paid in full to former patient Lindsay Kay, who suffered incorrect orthodontic treatment for a number of years. The 22-year-old consulted Rimmer for orthodontic treatment in order to close a number of misalignment issues.

However, Lindsay was left with further problems when the treatment had finally been completed. She was left with a gap in between her bottom front teeth and her upper molars were completely misaligned. Rimmer fitted implants and a retainer to try and improve the alignment but to no avail.

Lindsay said she was disappointed with the treatment, especially because she had to suffer through her high school years. It will now take several years for her to undergo restorative treatment to successfully realign her teeth.

Dental negligence specialist, Nick Grant, stated he was happy to help Miss Kay during her suffering and said that she was a victim of substandard dental care. He went on to say that Rimmer had taken advantage of a young girl and said that she was pleased with the final result as it meant that the orthodontist finally admitted to his misconduct.

Lindsay went on to say that she can put the worries about her teeth far behind her and finally have them fixed.
