Oral Surgeon Earns Professor Title

A former Oral surgery specialist has been appointed as Professor at the new Institute for Postgraduate Dental Education at the University of Central Lancashire.
Shahram Tabibi has worked at the university for 6 years in a variety of roles, initially Mr Tabibi was course leader of the MSc in Dental Implantology before he later moved on to become a senior lecturer in oral surgery.
In 2006 Mr Tabibi became director of the newly created Institute for Postgraduate Dental Education, and this week earned the title of Professor at UCLan.
Professor Tabibi has worked hard to turn the institute into one of the country’s leading postgraduate establishments, his past responsibilities included curriculum development, quality enhancement, learning research and marketing; now Professor Tabibi will have to work hard to further maintain and develop the Institutions Nationwide recognition.
On appointment, Professor Tabibi, said: “I am delighted to have become a professor at UCLan – I believe my appointment is a great endorsement of the work of the entire Institute for Postgraduate Dental Education since its establishment in 2006.
“Over this short period we have become recognised as a centre of excellence for the continuous professional development courses we offer dental practitioners.”
Professor Tabibi, who has experience as an oral surgeon having taken attachment to oral surgery at various hospital department across the country has been placing implants since 1989.
The North West Implant Centre that provides further training in implantology to General Dental Practitioners was co-founded by Professor Tabibi.
