An Ohio dentist has retired from his Tallmadge practice after almost 50 years of dedicated service.

Dr John Massoud, who began practising in 1962, retired from his practice on East Avenue after 48 years and is looking forward gardening, golfing and spending time with his eight grandchildren.

Family, friends and local dignitaries attended a special retirement party for Dr Massoud on 30 December 2009 to celebrate his numerous contributions to the community.

Mayor Christopher Grimm presented him with a proclamation plaque at the ceremony, which was held at Erie Station Grille.

As well as his contribution to dentistry, Dr Massoud also was involved with local athletics, little league softball, and the Tallmadge Chamber of Commerce.

The Bicentennial Celebration Committee also named him as one of most influential people in Tallmadge in 2007.
