An ambitious Nottinghamshire dentist has plenty to smile about after securing his first dental practice at the age of just 29.

Dr Gurdit Singh has taken the reins at Mapperley Dental Care after successfully securing a funding package from Lloyds Bank. Dr Singh has grand plans for the one-surgery practice, which currently provides treatment for around 1,000 patients. He has already set about adding to his team and hopes to add another surgery in the future.

Dr Singh described the move as a “huge step” having started his dental career just five years ago and said that it was “dream come true” to have his own practice. One of the most attractive selling points of Mapperley Dental Care is the potential for growth, with room to expand within the existing premises and options to add new treatments and services.

As well as creating another surgery, Dr Singh is also planning to offer a wider range of services for patients, including orthodontics and dental implants. He is also undertaking renovation work to modernise the practice in the coming months.

The acquisition was delayed by Covid, but just over a year after the deal was supposed to go through, Dr Singh has the keys in his hands and he is already making strides to put his own stamp on the clinic. He has recruited two new members of staff and is working on developing the practice and growing the business.

Relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, Andy Pearson, said that Dr Singh had shown “incredible ambition” since he qualified and everyone at Lloyds is thrilled to be a part of helping him to realise a long-standing professional dream.
