A dentist based in Norwich has announced that she will stop providing NHS services from the autumn.

Dr Eleftheria Lokovitou, who is based at mydentist in Barrack Street, Norwich, will switch to an independent private treatment model from October 1st.
In a letter to patients, she explained that she needed to make the changes to allow her to devote the required time and attention to her patients. She added that the decision had been difficult, but the new system will enable her to reduce waiting times for patients.

Patients who wish to continue receiving treatment from Dr Lokovitou will be able to sign up for a payment plan, which starts at £8.33 per month for one routine check-up and one dental hygiene appointment per year. There are also more comprehensive plans available at a cost of £25.75 per month.

Mydentist provides both private and NHS dental services in Norwich. Other dentists based at the practice will still be offering NHS care and patients have been advised to contact the practice to see if there are places available. The team has also stressed that it is trying to recruit additional NHS dentists to try to increase capacity.
