North London dental practice expands training facilities

A dental practice in North London is expanding its training facilities after securing funding worth over £1.6 million.

Cricklewood Dental Practice provides dental care for private and NHS patients in addition to state-of-the-art training facilities for experienced dental professionals and foundation dentists. Now, thanks to a cash injection partly funded by Unity Trust Bank, the practice is expanding its training centre.

The existing facilities boast a pioneering phantom lab, which is one of only four private facilities in the country. Funding will be used to create a second phantom lab to offer the next generation of dentists the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience.

Dr Ahmed Al-Morhiby, the owner of the practice, said that providing specialist dental services and education is a “big part of what we do” and explained that increasing demand for facilities had meant that there was now a shortage of space. The extra funding will facilitate the creation of a second lab in addition to skills labs, which will benefit foundation dentists and dental professionals, including dentists and dental nurses.

More than 200 dentists have benefited from training at the facility over the course of the last 12 months and the ambitious expansion plans will enable many more to undertake courses and workshops.
