NHS Warrington varnishes kids ’ teeth

Sample News Big

NHS dentists in Warrington are being given varnish and being told to apply it to children’s teeth.

The varnish contains fluoride and has been recommended by the NHS to protect local youngster’s teeth from decay.

Coating teeth in fluoride varnish can reduce tooth decay by 30 to 40 per cent in many children.

Kerry Davis, NHS Warrington’s acting primary care lead, said that dentists had responded positively to the new scheme and that they were now using it twice as much as the rest of the dentists in the north west.

NHS Warrington provided 21 dental clinics with the varnish as part of the Dental Commissioning Strategy.
