NHS Tayside Invites Locals to Participate in Dental Survey

Sample News Big

NHS Tayside is inviting local people to take part in a dental survey. The aim of the online questionnaire is to assess what people think of dental services in the area, where they think improvements can be made and where inequalities exist within the region.

The survey will help to gather information from local residents related to their experiences of using dental services and it is hoped that the findings will shape future provisions to address inequalities and ensure that everyone has access to good quality NHS dental services.

Honorary speciality registrar in dental public health at NHS Tayside, Susan Carson, encouraged people to get involved even if they haven’t been to a dentist for a while. The survey gives them the chance to share their ideas and experiences and help the board identify problems and find effective solutions. Although dental health has improved on the whole in recent years, there are still serious issues to address. Rates of decay among children are high and the number of cases of mouth cancer in the UK is rising year on year. Rates of disease are higher in disadvantaged areas and the aim is to iron out inequalities and ensure that people from less affluent areas have access to the information, preventative services and treatment they require.
