NHS Somerset submits plans to open new dental centre in Poole warehouse

NHS Somerset Trust has submitted plans to open a new dental centre in a warehouse in Poole.

The warehouse, which is located behind Creekmoor Services in Safety Drive, is a new development. If the proposals get the green light, Poole Dental Centre will relocate to the site. The practice provides specialist care for children and adults with disabilities and underlying health issues.

The statement accompanying the proposal from NHS Somerset Trust suggests that the development project would not require “major external changes.” The plans include modifications, such as adding a staircase to the side of the building and a new double door, which would create a mezzanine.

The statement explains that minor internal modifications will be made to the existing building to enable the practice to operate “efficiently.” The adjustments comply with HTM and HBN standards. The application has been backed by the Society of Poole.

There is already plenty of parking available at the site with 25 spaces close to the proposed premises and a further 60, which are currently used for a drive-through coffee shop.
The plans will now be reviewed by planning officers at Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.

It is understood that NHS Somerset Trust has already leased the warehouse building to house the service.
