Health bosses at NHS Lincolnshire have confirmed that they successfully bid for extra funding from the Department of Health.

Di Pegg, head of contracting for NHS Lincolnshire, confirmed the trust has secured additional funding worth £595,000, which will be used to provide appointments for up to 11,000 new patients in the area.

The funding will allow around 20 practices in the region to increase their capacity and will enable more people to register with an NHS dentist.

The funding boost is part of an investment worth £30 million from the Department of Health. Since the announcement trusts have been bidding for a cash boost in a bid to improve NHS dental services in their local areas.

Di Pegg said routine check-ups are a really important means of preventing oral health illnesses and urged people who are not currently registered with a dentist to make the most of the opportunities made possible by the extra funding.
