NHS Grampian Launches New Emergency Dental Awareness Campaign

Sample News Big

NHS Grampian has launched a new campaign to raise awareness of emergency dental services provided by dentists in the region.

The ‘Turn to your Dentist’ campaign was launched to inform people about the emergency dental services and advice available to them from dentists in the area; patients can seek advice from dentists even if they are not registered with the practice.

Ray Watkins, a consultant in Dental Public Health at the trust, said that toothache and dental problems can be very distressing and it’s important that people are aware of the help available to them.

Patients who are registered with a dental practice are advised to contact the surgery to make an appointment; if the practice is closed, the answer machine should provide details of out of hours services; details can also be found in the local press.

Patients who are not registered with a dentist are advised to ring the NHS Grampian Dental Information and Advice Line on 0845 45 65 990; the service will be available from 8:05am and 5:45pm from Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours patients with urgent dental problems are advised to contact NHS 24 on 08454 24 24 24.
