The NHS in South Devon will be conducting a survey to find out how many people need an NHS dentist in Torbay tomorrow.

Currently 58 per cent of local residents are accessing NHS dental care but the local health trust want to improve dental care by building on existing and adding new services.

It has teamed up with Torbay Local Involvement Network (LINk) to conduct the survey.

They are trying to discover whether people are using NHS dentistry regularly or only in emergencies and to find out how many people currently receive private treatment.

LINk representatives, who will be outside Sainsbury’s, at the Willows in Torquay, will be asking local people to complete a short questionnaire.

Torbay Care Trust‘s dental lead Roger Anderson said that there was only limited NHS dental services for some Torbay residents but added that the health services was looking to improve on this issue.

He added that the trust need to have accurate figures so that it can provide the right services and urged people to complete the questionnaire.
