A new NHS dental surgery has opened its doors to patients in Bristol.

Oasis Dental Care on Neath Road in the St George area of the city was officially opened by local MP, Stephen Williams and director of commissioning at NHS Bristol West, Jill Shepherd.

The practice, which is located in an old church, will provide 10,000 NHS dental places; the surgery is the last of five to be funded by NHS Bristol West. Recently, NHS Bristol West has commissioned five new practices to increase the number of NHS dental places available in the city by 50,000.

Jill Shepherd said that the aim was to ensure that everyone in Bristol has access to an NHS dentist; the huge increase in the number of places available will help to make this possible.

The new practice has been taking on new patients since January and more than 2,500 patients have already joined the surgery.
