NHS dental places available across Hampshire

Health chiefs in Hampshire have announced that hundreds of dental places are available in the area.

Health chiefs are worried that people do not realise that there are spaces available and are therefore going without the treatment they need. NHS Hampshire recently revealed plans for thousands of new NHS places; representatives from the county council heard plans to reveal extra services, which will cater for 200,000 people in the area.

Currently, 80 dental practices in the county are taking on new patients and new practices have opened in Winchester, Chandler’s Ford, Basingstoke, Romsey, Hamble and Fareham.

In Winchester, a new practice has opened recently and more than 5,000 patients have already registered. A few years ago, only a small number of practices in the county were taking on new patients and the NHS has invested a considerable amount of money into improving dental services; now, thousands of places are being made available and access to NHS services is better than ever.

Health bosses have encouraged patients to get in touch with the Primary Care Trust if they are looking to register with an NHS dentist.
