A dental clinic in Newcastle is hosting a modern art exhibition in conjunction with Allenheads Contemporary Art.

The new gallery space is situated in a city centre, state of the art modern dental practice in Blandford Square, within easy access of Dance City, the Centre for Life and Discovery Museum.

Dr Rob Wain, head of the Dovetail Clinic, said that one of the most important aims of the clinic is to make patients feel calm and relaxed. The art exhibitions will enable patients to enjoy a relaxing space and also give them an opportunity to browse the displays in order to see the art at the same time as having dental treatment.

The clinic boasts contemporary furnishings and quirky design with all the mod-cons needed to entertain patients, including large wall-mounted plasma screen televisions.

Helen Ratcliffe, joint director of Allenheads Contemporary Arts, said that there are many connections with Newcastle but this is the first time that an exhibition space will be based in the city centre. She said that it is a very exciting opportunity and everyone is looking forward to the new venture.

The exhibition will be entitled, ‘Setting the Fell on Fire’ and features work by a number of artists who have been involved with Allenheads Contemporary Arts.
