New Zealand Dentists Back Labour Fluoridation Plans
A group of dentists have backed plans for fluoridation released by the Labour Party in New Zealand.
The Labour Party released a statement earlier this week, saying that ministers would order an independent inquiry into fluoridation in the country if the party was elected in the next election. The inquiry would serve as a stepping-stone towards introducing a new fluoridation policy, which would see fluoridated water as a national oral health measure.
David Crum, executive director of the Dental Association, said that it was clear that the Labour Party understood the importance of fluoridation and comprehended the science behind the policy. Currently, only half of New Zealanders have access to fluoridated water supplies and dentists believe that increasing the number of communities with access to fluoridated water would help to reduce rates of decay, especially in poorer areas where people cannot afford regular dental treatment.
Mr Crum also backed Labour’s policy to improve oral health standards among teenagers, however, he stressed that parents must take more responsibility, as oral healthcare is already free and it is up to parents to encourage their children to visit the dentist.
The Labour Party has also released policies aimed at reducing harm caused by alcohol, including new legislation surrounding advertising alcoholic products.

It is truly sad when the politicains align with the big money, derived from selling this toxic waste fluoride to communities, and ignore the people they are supposed to be representing.
