Children from Binghamton,New York, were treated to a visit from some familiar faces on Tuesday; Sesame Street Live characters, Elmo and Super Grover visited Broome-Tioga BOCES, to talk to children about dental health.

The children were allowed to high five the characters and give them cuddles and the event was a great success; the aim was to educate the kids about oral hygiene and enable them to learn about the importance of brushing their teeth. Each student was also given a toothbrush and toothpaste to encourage them to clean their teeth twice a day.

Maggie Kosik, principal, said that there are many kids who have special needs and for many, going to the dentist is a daunting experience; Kosik said that the visit from the characters would help children to associate dentistry with more positive thoughts and this would help them in the future.

Elmo and Super Grover are part of the Sesame Street Live show, which is taking place at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena this week.
