A brand new multimillion pound veterinary centre, which will boast a state of the art dental suite and four operating theatres, will open in Morpeth in the summer, it has been confirmed.

Work on the site in Whorral Bank is well underway and contractors are confident that the work will be finished on time. The new veterinary centre will cost £2.5 million and will house the existing Robson and Prescott vet practice, which is currently located in the town centre. The former surgery will re-open as a Morrisons supermarket.

When completed, the new centre will provide a range of services for animals. The surgery will be kitted out with all the latest equipment and will feature four operating theatres, a brand new dental treatment suite, ultrasound technology, animal wards, six treatment rooms, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy facilities and an X-ray room.

The site will provide parking for 60 cars and there will be a separate unit for farm animals and an equine centre. The project will also create six new jobs in the area.
Chris Green, director and vet at Robson and Prescott, said that work is being completely very quickly and everyone is looking forward to moving to the new facility in the coming months. Work on the Morrisons store is due to start just two weeks after the scheduled moving date, so Mr Green is very relieved that there have been no hitches with the new build.

Mr Green said that space is limited at the current surgery and everyone is excited at the prospect of working in a purpose built space, which boasts all the features and facilities you could ever wish for.
