New NHS Dental Practice To Offer 5000 New Places in East Cowes
A new NHS dental practice has opened in East Cowes, providing 5,000 new NHS dental places.
The walk-in dental centre, which is located in East Cowes Medical Centre on Church Path, is now open and appointments are available for new patients. Patients are invited to visit ‘www.hampshireandwightdental.co.uk’ to fill in an online form.
Patients will then be contacted to arrange an appointment time. The practice will have an operational telephone number very soon.
Natalie Jones, head of dental commissioning and contracting at Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth Primary Care Trust, said that the new facility will provide urgent and routine dental care and appointments can be booked in advance, with some also available on the day. The clinic will be open between 8am and 6pm from Monday to Saturday; evening appointments will be available one night of the week.
New charges for NHS dental treatment came into play on 1st April, with charges increasing slightly from last year’s fees. Band 1 treatments now cost £18, band 2 treatments cost £49 and band 3 treatments cost £214.
Patients who require urgent dental treatment while they are waiting to register with an NHS practice are urged to call 111.
